The instructors at Fig Garden Yoga Studio have either received a minimum of 200 hours yoga teacher training through a formal program and are registered with Yoga Alliance, a national accreditation board that sets minimum standards for yoga teachers, or they were trained or certified by independent schools in their areas of specialization.
Nancy Tan
Nancy is an E-RYT500-hour Yoga Alliance registered teacher and a licensed psychotherapist. She is trained in a variety of mind-body disciplines, including Integrative Yoga Therapy, Ayurveda, Tai Chi Easy, Energy Healing, and Gestalt Therapy.Nancy founded the studio in 1998. She currently oversees the studio’s programming and serves as the director of its teacher training program. Nancy specializes in working with stress-related conditions in her private practice, and she offers therapeutic workshops and seminars at the studio and in the community. She is the author of QUIET MIND, HEALTHY BODY: The Art of Low Stress Living, available at the studio and on Amazon.com. Audrey Tan Audrey is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher and a graduate of the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. During her training, she apprenticed with Elise Miller, a certified senior Iyengar teacher and back care specialist. Audrey is also a Yoga Alliance registered teacher, at the E-RYT 500-hour level, and a certified Yoga for Scoliosis teacher. Audrey studied with the Iyengar family in Pune, India during the month of July, 2007, and true to the teachings of Iyengar Yoga, Audrey emphasizes safe alignment of the body and excels in modifying poses to make them accessible to all levels of students. Currently Audrey manages the studio and coordinates the teacher training program. Besides general open classes, Audrey also offers Back Care classes for the public, small-sized therapeutic classes for people who need specialized attention, and private classes for students wanting to utilize yoga to improve athletic performance, scoliosis, and a variety of other conditions.
Elizabeth Karsh
Elizabeth is a graduate of the Fig Garden Yoga Teacher Training/In-Depth Studies program and a registered 200-hour yoga instructor withYoga Alliance. Elizabeth embodies the spirit of yoga as taught at Fig Garden Yoga Studio: student-centered in her approach, clear and precise in her instructions, and carefully attentive to the safe alignment of the body in yoga postures. In addition to teaching yoga, Elizabeth offers Vastu Shastra consultations, a Vedic form of Feng Shui that aligns and balances the energy in homes and offices. Elizabeth is also a long time meditation practitioner and volunteers her time to facilitate the sitting group on Tuesday evenings at the studio. Anna Parker Anna is trained through the original YogaWorks in Los Angeles, and is YogaWorks certified and registered with Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT 500 level. She has completed the YogaWorks 200-hour Teacher Training Program and 300-hour Professional Program, in addition to specialty trainings in vinyasa flow, prenatal, and kids yoga. Anna teaches a variety of styles and levels, but specializes in vinyasa flow yoga with an emphasis on intelligent sequencing and alignment. Michele Hester-Reyes
Michele is a graduate of the Fig Garden Yoga Teacher Training/In-Depth Studies program and a registered 200-hour yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance. She began studying yoga in the 1970's in Spain and enjoys exploring the myriad of styles that modern yoga contains. She also teaches Spanish at College of the Sequoias and welcomes Spanish-speakers to yoga.
Libbi Mariani-Pitalo Libbi is a certified yoga teacher through Integrative Yoga Therapy, an internationally known yoga teachers training program, and a 200-hour registered teacher with Yoga Alliance.Libbi has studied with many master yoga teachers and incorporates several approaches into her classes.She teaches with gentleness and consistency, and is sensitive to her students' needs.Libbi is also an applicant’s attorney in Workers Compensation Law. She currently shares a private law practice with her husband, Mike.
Rodney Andrus
Rod is a graduate of the Fig Garden Yoga Teacher Training/In Depth Studies program and is a 200-hour registered yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance. Rod teaches with infinite patience, a sense of humor, and dedicates himself to providing a positive learning experience for his students. Besides teaching, Rod assists with the management of the studio. |
