"Confidence, clarity, and compassion are essential qualities for a teacher."

- BKS Iyengar

Course Description

We are pleased to announce the new Teacher Training/In-Depth Studies Program at Fig Garden Yoga Studio. This 200-hour, Yoga Alliance registered program is designed to deepen your yoga practice and give you a well-rounded initial education in the art of teaching yoga.

The next course will begin in January 2010. Training in the skills of practicing and teaching of asanas or physical postures, pranayama or breathing practices, and a teaching apprenticeship will be taught by certified Iyengar Yoga instructors, who will share their expertise in aligning the body properly, reading the body, verbal and manual adjustments, sequencing, linking and more.

Other training areas include anatomy, physiology, yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, chakras and stress reduction techniques. These classes will be taught by certified Iyengar Yoga instructors or E-RYT500 Yoga Alliance registered teachers.

Certified Iyengar Yoga instructors are among the best trained yoga teachers in the world. They undergo rigorous training and must pass a demanding two-year examination process in order to become certified.

E-RYT500 Yoga Alliance registered teachers have had a minimum of 500 hours of yoga teacher training and have taught for more than four years after their initial registration. They are recognized as experienced yoga teachers who are qualified to train other yoga teachers.

Training group size will be limited to enhance the quality of the program. Our teaching approach is student-centered and non-competitive. We strive to create a supportive learning environment that promotes each student’s growth and development.
